THE FOUNDATION

Friendship is the foundation of our relationship.
A foundation of trust and caring and desire and joy.
A foundation laid by the mason Fate.
Now that the foundation has been laid so solidly,
   we can begin to build.
Dare I imagine that we build a house of love?
A house with many rooms:
   carpeted with caring,
   painted with trust,
   paneled with desire,
   roofed with joy.
A house which will go where we go,
   keeping us warm,
   keeping us safe.
A house which will laugh at time,
   appearing forever new.
A house which will grow with us.
   expanding as our love increases.
A house which will weather the storms
   and trials of this world.
A house which will stand solid and proud
   upon the foundation that gives it strength.
