MOONLIGHT LOVER
© Bob Henning

The sun is setting slowly,
As twilight turns to night
The flowers turn their petals in,
To wait for morning's light

An old man dreams of yesterday,
And things that used to be
A robin turns and flies for home,
On soft and silent wings

Moonlight slips between the trees,
And dances on the sand
Then gently moves the darkness back,
With soft and gentle hand

Her graceful body flowing,
In evenings twilight bliss
She reaches out to touch my face,
As softly as a kiss

Through the evening's twilight glow,
Two bodies lay entwined
The rhythmic motion of their love,
Stands 'still' the hands of time

I'll hold her tight till morning's light,
Then watch her slip away
As daylight breaks upon the dawn,
To start another day

Her beauty comes from deep within,
We know not where she came
But those who've felt her gentle touch,
Will never be the same
