SPRING

Tiny violets bloom
   outside the portal
   of my bedroom window.
I watch them grow
   and cherish the beauty
   of their rich color.
Wild strawberries send
   delicate white blossoms
   to freshen the view
   outside my front door.
In the distance
   of another window
   dogwood and redbud
   shine in the sunlight
   for my delight.
Spring has arrived
   bringing new life
   and joy
   into my existence.

It all pales
   in comparison to
   the beauty of
   your love.
The playful breezes
   have gentled
   from stormy winter winds
   upon my heart.
My soul is nourished
   and begins new growth.
My heart peeks
   from dark winters terrain
   into your nurturing light.
My universe
   has become warm once more
   thanks to your presence
   inside it.
