Photography - Aomori, Japan 1991

These images were taken during the Cherry Blossom Festival in Aomori. We got to the festival just in time to see some cherry blossoms left on the trees. Most of them had already fallen to the ground or into the moat surrounding the castle. Blossoms were so heavy on the ground it looked like snow.

Aomori is on the northern tip of the island of Honshu. The drive from Misawa to Aomori takes you past bays that have Torii Gates leading to the Japan Sea. The coast is bordered by a necklace who's pearls are made of tiny rocky islands that make the drive enchanting.

I lived on the Air Force Base in Misawa, Japan from 1988 to 1992.
